Hello
I’m Anjuli (On-ju-Lee). Here is a little bit about how and why I come to offer the work that I do:
I first learned about a life that could be healing from my grandma, Mercy Metherate, who’s painting series, sequentially entitled “Come”, “And”, “Follow”, “Me”, I proudly display throughout my website. My grandma was an artist, contemplative and yogic practitioner for more than 50 years. I grew up seeing her wake up early for her yogic practice before attending daily morning mass. The way she took care of her body, mind and spirit, spilled over and was an anchor for our whole family and a reliable spigot for many to come and be nourished by peaceful loving waters. I would see her add certain spices to our family meals if someone had a belly ache, teach yoga, meditation and art to all her grandchildren and nieces and nephews and others in need, and generally exude a daily presence of curiosity, possibility and compassion. In addition to this living vital template, my grandma also made my mama, Rani. My mom has been a Reiki practitioner and teacher, sacred deathcare guide, and constellations facilitator for over 30 years and she continues to be one of my greatest living teachers and along with my father, my greatest support. From my family, I have learned an expansive definition of well-being that encompasses an ongoing sustaining relationship with the Divine, communion with the natural world, self, others and the joy of offering a life in service. I’m deeply thankful for these many gifts and the chance to bring them forward in a good way.
How I came to practice Constellations work:
I came to know constellations work first as a culture and then as a practice. Growing up downstream of my mother’s dedicated learning and practice of Family Constellation work, I’ve inherited parts of that paradigm as my inherent worldview. I started attending her monthly Family Constellation circles when I was about 19 years old. In these circles of deep trust and insight, I got to be a part of countless movements of love. I’ve still never gotten over the mysterious power of constellations work and its ability to let the Love that is trying to reach us do just that. I went on to study with our beloved teacher, Francesca Mason Boring, whom my mom and I hosted, for 3 year-long Constellations Facilitator Trainings. Those years were full of rich warmth and learning, and I’ve gone on to learn with several other masterful facilitators across the world, and continue to engage the work as a living framework.
How I came to practice East Asian Medicine:
Although my family has always found great benefit in acupuncture and turned to it often for aches and pains and general wellbeing, my own fear of needles kept me away throughout my childhood. A decade ago I sought Chinese medical care for some difficult patterns of illness that were showing up in my body. My brilliant acupuncturist at the time helped me to heal from many known and unknown sources of pain and ignited my curiosity to study this profound system of healing and wisdom. Through my study and practice of this medicinal and wisdom tradition, I have learned that we are anything but random; that there is a beauty and a precision to how we are designed, and that rewiring ourselves back within the natural world reveals layer upon layer of healing and meaning. I am deeply humbled and thankful to be an ongoing student and practitioner of acupuncture and East Asian Medicine. I give thanks to the many teachers and keepers of this medicine; both formal and informal, known and unknown.
Can you keep your soul in its body, hold fast to the one, and so learn to be whole?
To give birth, to nourish,
to bear and not to own,
to act and not lay claim,
to lead and not to rule:
this is mysterious power.
