“All healing rests in embodied experiences of kinship.”

- Alaine Duncan, L.Ac., SEP

I like to explore healing as one of our great love stories. The word heal comes from the word whole, as does the word holy. This intersection brings me great hope.

Together, we can support the natural design below our conditioned and habitual ways of response. Re-membering the health of our natural rhythms; the seeding, rooting, sprouting, blooming, fruiting, decay, dormancy. Our cells are constantly in the cycles of these rhythms…our bodies don’t have to work hard to become like nature, it is only our minds that forget that we are alive and organic. Weaving the mind back into it’s natural home; in our bodies, in our lineages, families and relationships, in our earth, our personal nature can’t help but more effectively play out it’s brilliant design.

Offerings

  • Guided by the ancient and well-traveled maps of Chinese and East Asian Medicine, these sessions are quite individualized and can address imbalances at the body, mind, and spirit level. Treatments may use a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tui na and acupressure, botanical formulation, wellness coaching, and dietary therapy to address a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions.

Common treated conditions in my practice include:

    • support for mental and emotional health

    • immune system support, seasonal allergies and auto-immune conditions

    • rehabilitation from injury and/or surgery

    • migraines and headache patterns

    • menstrual regulation, fertility and pregnancy support

    • insomnia and sleep regulation

    • digestive issues: acid reflux, nausea, indigestion, appetite, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain

    • fatigue and energy level

  • In addition to the maps of Chinese Medicine, this work utilizes additional maps of the human nervous system to bring embodied, relational support to patterns of survival that can be held and stuck in our tissue.

We always start with attuning to health and resource and approach the next doable bit of updating survival patterns and honoring the bodies wisdom about what’s been important and what’s most important to us now.

This work is anchored in the principles of a supporting core-regulation, choice, titration (doing things in bite-size pieces that we are able to digest and integrate in our life) , cultivating interoception (our internal felt-sense), neuroception (our felt-sense of what’s going on around us), and a biology of belonging.

  • Constellations work, traditionally Family Constellations work, is an embodied process of allowing representation of different aspects of a seekers intra/inter- relational world. The work trusts the living field of wisdom that flows through tissue that is wired and woven to exist within our intricate webs of relationship. The process can bring light to hidden loyalties and dynamics that can often keep us stuck in unconscious repetitive patterns. Family Constellation work aims to free us up from unseen loyalties that we have to the suffering that precedes us. By honoring what has been true and giving the excluded a place, we can more clearly arrive at what’s true now, and our choice to fully live the Life that’s been given to us.

  • This work spring from the meeting of the two major roots of my work. 5 Element Constellations enable us to look through the lens of elemental wisdom to shed light on the internal dynamics around a specific issue.

The Chinese system of the 5 Elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal) is inherent in the Chinese cultural landscape and has been cultivated and utilized for thousands of years and offers us a trustworthy map, linking our personal nature with Great Nature. These insights can feed, inform and illuminate dynamics within issues we are experiencing physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. To be held, hold ourselves and each other within the context of the 5 Elements is to hold ourselves within Nature's inclusive impulse towards generativity, balance and wholeness.

This work can either be done as a private constellation session or in a group. Check out Circles, to find out more about upcoming circle offerings.

Sessions are either in-person in our yurt in Rockville, Maryland or virtual.
